Is God Real?

What does it take to believe God is real? Christians point to the Bible. But what if we don’t believe the Bible is the word of God?  How do we know, based on what we see, God exists?

Does the existence of our planet, solar system, the universe(s) prove his reality? Many scientists say no. One of the world’s best-known theoretical physicists, Stephen Hawking, an atheist, says, “We are each free to believe what we want, and it’s my view that the simplest explanation is; there is no god. No one created our universe,and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization; There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that I am extremely grateful.”

Is Hawking right? Is it possible the universe and everything we see today started from nothing, 13.8 billion years ago? Is this the origin of life? A random, chance event? Dust to dust. Dust in the wind. Is there more?

Opinions differ on how wicked the world is, but most agree it’s a mess. If there is a God, wouldn’t he do a better job managing things? Shouldn’t he do a better job? Is God watching passively or is he involved?

Sorry but I don’t have the answers for you. You knew that. There are many books supporting both sides of the argument. The Bible says in Psalm 14:1, “The fool has said in his heart there is no God.” Scientists like Hawking disagree. What I believe isn’t based on science. God can’t be proved by a “theoretical physicist’s” mathematical equation. My belief is based on personal experiences where God has acted in my life. I’ve felt his presence. I’ve had answers to my prayers that are more than coincidence. I’ve witnessed the birth of my kids. I’ve held grandkids the doctors told us would probably not be born. I’ve seen nature; flowers, birds, animals, sunsets, stars, bumblebees…

I think he’s real. Do you? Please think about it.
