Fall Vacation – 2017

Kathy and I took a 3-week vacation in October 2017. Thanks to Joan and Cibyl for finding a place for us to stay in The Springs. This is a 150 acre Christian retreat center in Indiana and was the perfect way for us to start our trip. We went to the Air Force Museum in Dayton (a must-see for anyone with boys) and then did a lot of history in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi.

We saw Linda and John and Greg, Katie, and Charlie in Chattanooga. Linda and John have a great house there and are working hard to get settled in. John said he was advised shortly after they moved in to get Tennessee license plates and to not tell anyone they were from Illinois.

One thing I noticed while taking pictures was the great clouds we saw. It also rained most of the time we were in Williamsburg so those shots are pretty gray.

Mississippi is famous for “Crossroads” whether it’s the Blues or in our case, the railroad lines in Corinth. There were some major Civil War battles fought in Shiloh and Corinth. Both sides wanted control of the north/south and east/west rail lines the South had that came through Corinth, MS. I found it very cool that my last photo there was a train, with an American flag on the side, running through The Crossroads.

We had a great time. 1,250 pictures and 3,400 miles later, here are some of my favorite shots.
