Clarksdale, MS – Delta Blues

Most people like at least one kind of music. I enjoy many different musical genres but I really love the “Blues”. Not just any Blues. I prefer the Mississippi Delta Blues. You know, the crossroads where Robert Johnson, Son House, Charlie Patton and others sold their soul to the devil. These are the guys who played acoustic guitars rather than electric and who sang a rare, raw style that grabs you and doesn’t let go.

My wife Kathy and I made a musical junket of sorts and spent a few days in Memphis and Clarksdale, Mississippi. It was amazing. That word is overused but I can’t think of a better one. The Delta Blues museum in Clarksdale is full of pictures, artifacts, music and stories of the legends of blues. It’s only 90 minutes south of Memphis and well worth the trip. Check out the museum and Cat Head for an education on a musical genre that will not turn you loose.
