It’s too early to start thinking about the 2024 election. Or is it? Here’s what I read today.

A Monmouth University poll released 10/5/2023 revealed:

• 76% of voters said Biden, 80, was too old to serve another term.
• 48% said the same about Trump, 77.

• 56% of voters said they were enthusiastic/very enthusiastic about Trump becoming the Republican nominee for president. 
• 46% of voters said they were enthusiastic/very enthusiastic about Biden becoming the Democrat nominee.

• 43% of voters said they would definitely/probably vote for Trump.
• 42% said they would definitely/probably vote for Biden. 

• 57% said they definitely/probably wouldn’t vote for Biden.
• 56% said they definitely/probably wouldn’t vote for Trump.

• Biden’s support among Black, Latino and Asian voters dropped to 47% from 63%. 
• Trump support moved to 23% from 33%.

According to a Gallup poll released the week of 10/2/2023: 

• 56% of Americans view the Republican Party unfavorably.
• 58% view the Democratic Party unfavorably.

• 53% of Americans believe the Republican Party will do a better job keeping the country prosperous over the next few years.
• 39% believe the Democratic Party will do a better job.

• 57%, have greater faith in the Republican Party to protect the country from international terrorism and military threats.
• 35% favor the Democrats.

• More than eight in 10 Americans disapprove of the job the politically divided Congress is doing.
• 60% disapprove of President Joe Biden’s job performance.
• Nearly 75% feel pessimistic about the direction of the economy.

The recent Gallup poll finds the Republican Party leading the Democratic Party as the party more Americans choose as better able to handle whatever problem they name as the most important facing the country. 

• 44% say the Republican Party is better.
• 36% say the Democratic Party is better.
• The rest say the parties are the same or have no preference.
