Give Me A Minute – News You May Have Missed

I’m not much of a fan of our current president or his administration. If you read my stuff, that’s pretty clear. The Republican party leaves a lot to be desired as well. But this post is about Joe.

President Biden spends most of his time on vacation (somewhere around 40%) or dodging questions from the media. Given his inability to articulate without a cue card, he spends most of his time in the White House basement. I’m sure he’s a big fan of the new Barbie movie. He has been in the conservative news a lot recently, and much of what’s being said isn’t good. But you have to look hard for information about him on the major networks. Many of the media outlets won’t publish anything negative. I thought I’d find some posts that you might not have seen and share them with you.

Vice President Kamala Harris attempts to explain AI in latest word salad gaffe: ‘Kind of a fancy thing’

And so, the machine is taught — and part of the issue here is what information is going into the machine that will then determine — and we can predict then, if we think about what information is going in, what then will be produced in terms of decisions and opinions that may be made through that process.”  FOX News

Strategic ambiguity with regard to Kyiv is tantamount to strategic certainty for Moscow. The West needs to be bolder and more decisive about winning.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has consistently pleaded with the West for assistance against this type of aerial assault on his country. Initially last March, he called for the establishment of a no-fly zone. Once U.S. President Joe Biden refused, Zelensky changed his request to ground-based air defense systems to protect his citizens and the nation’s critical infrastructure. Ukraine was again denied when the U.S. and Brussels, seemingly afraid of Putin’s shadows on the wall, viewed the request as a “non-starter,” and refused to place NATO soldiers in a position that could lead to a direct confrontation with Russia.  KYIV Post – Ukraine’s Global Voice

Government bureaucracies and the Biden administration cannot be trusted

…a Louisiana federal court recently upheld their First Amendment right to speak without being censored by the government. Judge Terry Doughty said the case, Missouri v. Biden, “arguably involves the most massive attack against free speech in United States’ history.”

Judge Doughty issued a preliminary injunction forbidding numerous federal agencies, including the FBI, the Justice Department, and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as many individuals within the executive branch like White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, from communicating or meeting with: “Social-media companies for the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech posted on social-media platforms.” FOX News

Trump and I can agree: The US is a ‘third-world country’

Despite managing to spend more money on “national defence” than China, Russia, the United Kingdom and a bunch of other big spenders combined, the US had some “40 million people” living in poverty amid glaring “contrasts between private wealth and public squalor”.

As Alston noted, the US was also “alone among developed countries” in insisting that human rights did “not include rights that guard against dying of hunger, dying from a lack of access to affordable healthcare, or growing up in a context of total deprivation”. So much for that line from the US Declaration of Independence about “inalienable” rights to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. For some time, Aldean has waged culture war battles on social media. Here he does so on the backs of small-town people and country music itself.  MSNBC

Biden’s new Title IX rules deputize teachers to override parents on gender identity

In many places, schools are already claiming legal authority to socially transition children without parental consent or knowledge. In Alaska, one school used Title IX as a justification for changing a child’s name and pronouns without telling her mother. Officials then revised every single school document, other than those sent to the parents, to reflect the child’s chosen male name. That name even appeared in the yearbook. When the mother found out and protested, school officials said she had no say over the matter — because of Title IX. New York Post
